# NTT Lands 115 MW in Data Center Deals as Part of $10B AI Push

The company is forging ahead with new data center commitments as part of its $10 billion expansion plan to support growing demand for AI and high-density compute infrastructure.

Global IT services provider NTT Data has secured nearly 115 MW of new data center capacity commitments from hyperscale and enterprise customers across three US campuses, underscoring rising demand for AI workload infrastructure.

The new agreements span facilities in Gainesville, Va., Chicago, and Sacramento, Calif., and include more than 90 MW from a major hyperscale provider, as well as nearly 20 MW contracted by three enterprise organizations.

The deals arrive as NTT expands its global platform under a multi-year plan to invest more than $10 billion in data center infrastructure by 2027, targeting facilities designed to support high-density compute clusters, AI training and inference workloads, and emerging liquid-cooling deployments.

“These new commitments speak to the confidence that clients place in NTT Global Data Centers to support their most ambitious digital initiatives,” said Doug Adams, CEO and president of NTT Global Data Centers, in a statement. “As compute requirements continue to accelerate, organizations are seeking infrastructure that can evolve at the same pace.”

Bruno Berti, senior vice president of global product management at NTT Global Data Centers, highlighted growing enterprise demand. “The demand we’re seeing isn’t just hyperscale. Enterprise clients are increasingly pre-leasing multi-megawatt capacity because they recognize the importance of scalable, AI-ready infrastructure,” Berti told Data Center Knowledge in an interview. “Our flexible designs allow them to pivot between air and liquid cooling and adapt rack densities as workloads evolve.”

Steven Dickens, CEO and analyst at HyperFrame Research, told Data Center Knowledge that NTT’s news shows a push to meet the growing physical demands of AI training and inference. “NTT’s 115 MW capacity surge is a direct response to the infrastructure velocity gap, validating our thesis that the primary limiter of AI today isn’t model selection but the physical struggle to find power-dense, inference-ready environments,” Dickens said. “By prioritizing liquid-cooling and high-density clusters, NTT is effectively building the ‘foundational layer’ needed to bridge what we tend to call the ‘Execution Gap’ – the messy space between ambitious AI pilots and the operational reality of production ROI.”

## Hyperscale Demand Drives Largest Deployment

The largest commitment comes from a hyperscale customer deploying more than 90 MW at NTT’s VA11 campus in Virginia, part of the broader [Northern Virginia data center ecosystem](https://www.datacenterknowledge.com/data-center-construction/could-texas-overtake-northern-virginia-as-the-data-center-capital-) that continues to serve as the world’s largest concentration of cloud infrastructure.

The deployment is designed for high-density, AI-driven workloads, enabling customers to scale rack densities and cooling strategies as compute requirements evolve. Hyperscale operators are increasingly seeking facilities capable of supporting AI clusters with higher power densities, often requiring advanced thermal management and flexible power distribution architectures.

“Our standard data halls are hybrid-ready,” Berti said. "Fan walls and CDU loops are modular in 1 MW increments. Clients can start with air and add liquid later, or scale liquid cooling for AI-only high-density designs north of 200 kW per rack.”

## Enterprises Expand AI-Ready Infrastructure

While hyperscalers accounted for most of the new capacity in the latest agreements, NTT also signed nearly 20 MW in enterprise deployments spanning multiple industries.

A financial services institution selected the platform for its compliance capabilities and adaptable cooling infrastructure, which enable a transition to liquid as AI deployments expand. A gaming platform provider cited proximity to cloud availability zones and flexibility in cooling. A cybersecurity company expanded an existing footprint, prioritizing rapid deployment timelines and scalable capacity within an established campus.

“Enterprise clients are increasingly looking for AI-capable infrastructure,” Berti noted. "We’re seeing hybrid strategies where organizations want facilities that can handle both traditional cloud workloads and AI training and inference. Our designs give them that flexibility without delaying deployment.”

Dickens added, “The mix of hyperscale and financial enterprise deals reflects a shift toward a hybrid-first mindset, where organizations are moving past the ‘SaaS apocalypse’ hype to anchor mission-critical AI workloads in specialized, resilient infrastructure. Ultimately, this $10 billion buildout signals that 2026 is no longer about the ‘AI gold rush’ of experimentation, but about the ‘AI factory’ era where physical power and data gravity dictate who actually crosses the finish line.”

## Global Expansion to Support AI Infrastructure

NTT has been steadily expanding its data center footprint to keep pace with demand for AI infrastructure. Over the past year, the company launched 10 new facilities across North America, EMEA, and APAC, adding more than 370 MW of new IT capacity to its global platform. Those expansions are part of a broader strategy to scale infrastructure for next-generation AI workloads and the growing digital economy.

Berti highlighted the company’s approach to future-proofing: “We evaluate every site for grid availability and alternative power sources, including on-site generation, natural gas, fuel cells, and nuclear. Our designs can pivot as workloads evolve, so clients can deploy AI clusters today and scale tomorrow without rebuilding infrastructure.”

These commitments reflect a broader shift in the infrastructure market: AI-driven demand is expanding beyond hyperscalers. While the largest deployment involves a hyperscale customer, additional enterprise agreements suggest organizations across industries are securing capacity for AI inference and high-performance computing.

For operators like NTT DATA, that shift is reshaping facility design. AI clusters require higher rack densities, greater power flexibility, and cooling architectures capable of supporting liquid cooling as deployments scale. The trend is also intensifying competition for high-density capacity in established markets, particularly in major data center hubs such as Northern Virginia and Chicago, where power availability and speed to deployment remain critical for large AI projects.
