Analysts have catalogued more than 60 distinct failure points between proof-of-concept and production rollout, and the ones that actually kill deployments cluster around solution strategy and enterprise integration rather than raw technical capability. Intel has echoed this directly, noting that thousands of companies have run successful edge AI pilots, but only a fraction have successfully scaled them, and the gap comes down to decisions made (or not made) long before deployment ever began. That gap between "it worked in the lab" and "it works across 50 facilities" has earned its own grim nickname in the industry: pilot purgatory. **Awards as a Signal, Not Just a Trophy** Given how common it is for edge AI initiatives to stall, an award recognizing organizations that actually break through deserves real weight. At Automate 2026, the inaugural OnLogic Edge Ambassador Award went to Channa Samynathan of Exein specifically for work that moved "past digital hype to turn complex ideas into scalable realities," from co-building integrations to architecting live demonstrations that prove out advanced use cases on rugged hardware.
