Yazeed Shehu Danfulani, has met with the Ministers of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, and Finance, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, to strengthen collaboration on agricultural insurance as part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The high-level meeting focused on expanding insurance coverage for farmers, improving access to affordable insurance products and developing stronger risk management measures to shield farmers from the growing threats of climate change, floods, drought, pests and diseases. The officials also explored ways to improve coordination between the Ministries of Agriculture and Finance and NAIC to make agricultural insurance a central pillar of Nigeria’s agricultural financing framework. They stressed that strengthening NAIC’s institutional capacity would improve service delivery, restore confidence in agricultural insurance, attract greater private sector participation and extend protection to millions of smallholder farmers across the country. The meeting underscored the Federal Government’s drive to use agricultural insurance as a tool for boosting investment in agriculture, improving farmers’ resilience and supporting food security. Chief Executive Officer of the NAIC, Danfulani Shehu said the collaboration reflects the Tinubu administration’s determination to build stronger institutions capable of driving agricultural transformation and enhancing confidence across the agricultural value chain. Attention also centred on the leadership of Danfulani, who has continued to pursue partnerships with government agencies, financial institutions, regulators and development partners to reposition NAIC as a more responsive and results-driven institution. Supporters said his reform-driven approach aligns with the administration’s vision of empowering competent public sector leaders while strengthening protection for farmers and promoting sustainable rural livelihoods.
