Harvey and Benchmark logos..

*This story has been updated with quotes from Carl Fuda, vice president of partnerships and business development at Harvey.*

Legal artificial intelligence startup Harvey announced Thursday that it acquired Benchmark, a New York-based, AI-powered platform for guiding investment decisions.

The deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, is Harvey’s third acquisition of 2026. According to a press release, the addition of Benchmark is intended to build out Harvey’s asset management business. Harvey currently works with 50 asset management firms across a range of deal-related workflows, the release said.

Benchmark is designed to provide investment firms with insights based on their institutional knowledge that can help steer their decision making. According to LinkedIn, the company was founded in 2022 and has around 10 employees. It has received funding from Y Combinator and the Outsiders Fund.

Benchmark’s founders, Alec Dunn and Connor Janson, along with the rest of the company’s staff, are set to join Harvey’s product and engineering team.

Carl Fuda, vice president of partnerships and business development at Harvey, told Law.com that the asset management space represents a particularly fast-growing segment of Harvey’s in-house customers, which already make up the most rapidly expanding part of company’s business.

While Benchmark began with a focus on deal teams, Fuda said, it moved toward the legal space due to the overlap between the two industries.

But that does not mean Harvey is bringing on the platform with only legal customers in mind. As Harvey’s customer base expands, Fuda said the kinds of professionals it serves is likely to as well—with the company already serving some PwC tax professionals.

“Legal will always be a very important segment, and the most important segment for us. We absolutely will expand from there,” he said.

“We think about knowledge work pretty broadly,” he added. “If you're handling documents, if you're combing through large volumes of unstructured data, like a PwC tax advisor might be doing, that is a potential adjacency we might we might consider beyond law.”

The Benchmark acquisition builds on what has already been a year of significant growth for Harvey. While the company has received over $1 billion since its 2022 founding, it only began expanding via [acquisitions](https://www.law.com/2026/03/20/with-recent-acquisitions-harvey-homes-in-on-integrations-in-house-market/) this year, starting with its January [acquisition](https://www.harvey.ai/blog/hexus-joins-harvey) of product demo startup Hexus. Less than two months later, in March, Harvey [acquired](https://www.harvey.ai/blog/the-lume-ai-team-joins-harvey) AI-powered data integration platform Lume.

Amid all that acquisition activity, Harvey has also continued to rake in capital. In March, the company announced that it raised [$200 million](https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2026/03/25/harvey-announces-200m-funding-round-/) in a round led by venture capital firms GIC and Sequoia, representing only the latest in a string of nine-figure investments Harvey has raised.

Meanwhile, Harvey has steadily expanded its offerings in recent months. In June it announced that it was [developing](https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2026/06/18/harvey-announces-development-of-custom-legal-specific-ai-models-/) custom legal-specific AI models, and in May it launched an [adoption management](https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2026/05/21/harvey-announces-contract-review-product-adoption-analytics-features/) tool called Command Center, a contract review offering called Contract Intelligence, more than 500 use case-specific legal [AI agents](https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2026/05/05/harvey-launches-pre-built-ai-agents-self-service-customization-tool/), and an Agent Builder tool.

During that time, Harvey also announced that it added to its growing roster of legal tech partnerships, teaming up with virtual data room provider [Datasite](https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2026/06/12/legaltech-rundown-legora-announces-partnership-with-wolters-kluwer-harvey-teams-up-with-datasite-and-more-/) and Swiss legal AI startup [DeepJudge](https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2026/05/22/legaltech-rundown-harvey-partners-with-deepjudge-aaa-announces-agreement-to-mediate-tool-and-more/).
